Speed control with three-phase inverter integrated into the motor: Tauvert Carpanelli
Carpanelli Motori Elettrici has developed Tauvert: a three-phase inverter integrated into the motor, to meet speed control requirements with a cutting-edge, compact, high-performance product.
The sensorless version of field-oriented control (FOC) guarantees the best torque control and maximum speed precision. The version with encoder sensors ensures maximum positioning precision and torque available even when stationary.
Tauvert Carpanelli Electric Motors
Tauvert covers a wide range of industrial applications where electric motor speed regulation with precise and reliable motion control is required.
The Tauvert three-phase inverter integrates motor and control, thus eliminating the electromagnetic interference problems typical of traditional motor and inverter systems.
The basic configuration of Tauvert is particularly suitable for stand-alone applications, with a large number of analogue and digital control signals, and acquisition of external sensors for controlling pumps, ventilation, conveyor belts and much more.
The digital and analogue I/O signals can be configured using a dedicated PC programme. The PC configuration programme provides a particularly useful monitoring function, both during commissioning and under operating conditions. Electrical installation is particularly simple thanks to the absence of motor-converter wiring. The signal connections are plug-in.
The torque limiter function at values below the motor's rated value is precise, reliable and repeatable. It replaces traditional mechanical torque limiters that are subject to wear and high tolerances, which increase over time and compromise performance.
The wide range of motor power ratings and polarities offers torque availability at all speeds for every type of mechanical requirement.
Motor speed control
In line with Carpanelli tradition, the motors used can be manufactured to customer specifications, both electrically and mechanically, adapting to the most stringent environmental specifications.
The compactness and small size of Tauvert solve installation problems when space is a determining factor. The dimensions have been designed to achieve the best power/volume ratio.
The Tauvert system connectivity uses the main standard protocols.
The basic version with RS485 and CAN hardware interface supports the MODBUS and CANOPEN protocols respectively.
The integrated PI regulator manages applications to control pressure (e.g. in liquid pumps) and temperature regulation, optimising energy savings with automatic shutdown strategies when the setpoint is reached, with soft start and restart.
Special options available for Tauvert
1- The braking unit option allows fast and precise stops, regardless of inertia. In fact, applications with high inertia loads require the version with optional braking unit, where the braking resistance is appropriately sized according to the characteristics of the application.
2- The Tauvert is also available with a self-braking motor: the brake is controlled by the drive activated at the end of the ramp.
3- FOC vector control version available with high-resolution position transducer.
4- A servo-ventilation accessory system is available, controlled and powered by the drive.
5- The ETHERCAT expansion card supports CANopen protocols.
6- WI-FI and Bluetooth expansion for wireless commands and communications.
